measure your progress
Have you heard of the acronym SMART?
When you want to set goals, you make sure they are:
Specific Measurable Attainable Relevant Time-Bound
This is widely considered a safe way to progress and achieve your goals.
Now let me ask you this: Do you believe Christopher Columbus used the SMART technique when he decided to sail west and discovered the Americas?
Coaching is a field where there is space for discovery, yet at the same time measurements are a necessity. For instance, Columbus prepared everything before sailing. He knew it was going to be a long journey, he planned as best as he could. During his journey, he regularly measured exactly where he was.
However, measurements should not become the goal; it is simply a tool that helps you reach your destination.
Which is why I have developed the Global Performance Index. It allows to quickly assess where you are and gives a clear picture of what coaching has changed in your personal and professional life.
